Who doesn’t love a festive holiday cocktail?
The festive season is full of fun activities, amazing food and fun drinks that put you in the holiday mood. My favourite from this year is inspired by FIKA, the café based inside of the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Deemed “The Poinsettia”, this champagne-based cocktail is one that will certainly put a twinkle in your eye.
Made from your favourite brut champagne (I prefer Piper Heidsieck or Gruet for this one), grapefruit crema (Tattersall is a local favourite) and cranberry juice – it’s simple, a crowd favourite, and let’s be honest, gorgeous to look at too.
How to Make “The Poinsettia”
You can make this holiday cocktail in five easy steps. First, find a glass worthy of your favourite champagne. Second, add 1oz of your grapefruit crema and 1.5oz of cranberry juice (not cranberry juice cocktail) to your glass. Third, top with champagne. Fourth – add a sprig of rosemary to garnish. Lastly, you can spear a few fresh cranberries on a toothpick if you’d like to take the garnish an extra step. Roll the cranberries in sugar, and lay on the top of the glass for a frosted effect.
