PEEK BEHIND THE SCENES.

What I Wore for Fashion Week MN

With the start of September comes one of my favourite times of the year. It’s not the cooling weather or the falling leaves that has me giddy with excitement, it’s the sound of stilettos clacking on the sidewalk, the sound of fabric rustling on the floor. Fashion Month has finally come again!

As some of you may know, last spring I attended two runway shows at the London Fashion Week Festival. It was my first-ever Fashion Week experience, and it is one that I will likely never forget. This September, whilst I sadly will not be able to make it back to London to see any shows, I did have the opportunity to attend a show during Fashion Week MN. The same week as New York Fashion Week, but just a bit less travel time to attend. Fashion Week MN does not lack of glamour and shine, it is a wonderful event that encapsulated diversity wonderfully this season – I simply cannot wait to see what it will hold next season.

This time around, I was lucky enough to attend a show produced by Culture Piece Magazine at Le Meridian Chambers hotel. Culture Piece focuses heavily on promoting diversity and different cultures, and that translated to their runway show as well. The colours were rich and bold, the applique and embroidery were ABSOLUTELY stunning, and overall the show was just fantastic.

The venue had an extremely intimate feel. It exuded a luxurious and classic vibe, and I wanted to reflect that feeling in my look for the evening. Three things instantly came to mind when choosing my outfit: sexy, bold and tailored. The event was black tie, but I didn’t want to just go for a gown as I thought most people would. I decided upon a fabulous jumpsuit from the H&M fall/winter 2017 collection. It ticked all the boxes perfectly – sharp tailoring in the trousers, a sexy lowered neckline that emphasized the decolletage and the deep black of the fabric exudes the classic vibe that I love.

For my makeup look I was inspired by the venue itself, with its warm leathers and low lighting ambiance. Going for a sultry look, I kept to red tones and warm amber on the eyes, a golden highlight, and a red-hued cinnamon lip. The rich colours balanced very well with the dark black of the jumpsuit, and I topped the makeup with a black mascara to tie the entire look together.

What is your go-to makeup look for a special occasion? Any favourite brands that I should check out? Let me know in the comments! Until next, xoxo.
